Punjab Govt Approves PKR 24 billion for Seven Development Schemes

In a recent meeting chaired by Barrister Nabeel Awan, several significant development projects were approved by the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), aimed at enhancing infrastructure and sustainability across various districts of the province.

1. Solar Power Systems Project

One of the key highlights of the meeting was the allocation of approximately PKR 9 billion for the solar power systems project. This initiative aims to improve the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural practices in the province. The project aims to safeguard the left bank of the River Chenab from erosion at Kot Kameer and Behak Ahmad Yar. It is estimated to cost PKR 848.97 million, reflecting the government’s commitment to environmental conservation and infrastructure resilience.

Rehabilitation and Improvement of Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road

This project involves enhancing a 45 km stretch of the Faisalabad-Jaranwala road, from Makuana bypass to Syedwala Okara road via Syedwala Interchange Motorway M-3. The approved budget for this endeavour is PKR 3.8 billion, aimed at improving connectivity and facilitating smoother transportation in the region.

4. Rehabilitation and Improvement of Ghazi Road in Lahore District

The project focuses on upgrading Ghazi Road, which connects Ring Road to Ferozepur Road in Lahore district. With an allocated budget of PKR 530 million, this initiative aims to enhance local infrastructure and improve traffic flow in one of Pakistan’s largest cities.

Road Rehabilitation Projects in Various Districts

The PDWP also sanctioned road rehabilitation projects in several districts:

1.     Nankana Sahib district: PKR 1.32 billion
2.    Okara district: PKR 3.451 billion
3.    Sahiwal district: PKR 5.49 billion
